Welcome to my personal blog. I am the principal consultant in Innovative Educational Ideas a company consulting to industry and education on matters of online instructional design, online learning, educational technology and games, community and community of practice development and facilitation. Much of my last ten years has been spent practicing and researching in these areas for educational institutions, corporations and not-for-profit organisations and government instrumentalities.
I am a foundation member of CPsquare and coach in the CPSquare Foundations of Communities of Practice Workshop. I have over the past five years designed for, facilitated and consulted to online community groups and communities of practice. For the past three years I collaborate as a postdoctoral scholar in the Learning, Cognition and Instruction/Learning Sciences at Indiana University with Sasha Barab, researching issues surrounding a 3D multi-user game environment Quest Atlantis.
In 2008 I am designing and managing a new blog to carry forward the case study research I carried out for my doctorate. Community Capers is a blog-centred experience where you will get a chance to visit a new Internet-mediated community of practice each month and discover some of the key components for success.
